Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals during January 2015 (584,800 movements) increased 0.1% compared with December 2014 (584,400 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.3% in November 2014 and 0.2% in December 2014. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 4.3% higher than in January 2014.
Seasonally adjusted estimates: During January 2015, short-term visitor arrivals (578,900 movements) decreased 2.0% compared with December 2014 (590,900 movements). This followed a monthly decrease of 1.8% in November 2014 and an increase of 2.3% in December 2014.
Original estimates: There were 546,200 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in January 2015.
SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES FROM AUSTRALIA
Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures during January 2015 (768,700 movements) increased 0.4% compared with December 2014 (765,500 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.4% in November 2014 and December 2014. The current trend estimate for departures is 3.3% higher than in January 2014.
Seasonally adjusted estimates: During January 2015, short-term resident departures (774,500 movements) increased 0.1% compared with December 2014 (773,400 movements). This followed a monthly decrease of 0.2% in November 2014 and an increase of 2.5% in December 2014.
Original estimates: There were 692,200 short-term resident departures from Australia in January 2015.
